How to get the GTM container configuration string¶
The configuration string is what Google Tag Manager generates to describe a server-side container. It is what you paste into the AdPulse dashboard so we provision the server.
It is the step that causes the most confusion — and the reason is simple: it does not look like a JSON file or an export. It is an opaque string and must be pasted whole, with no changes.
It is neither JSON nor base64
Do not try to parse, format, reorder or "clean up" the string. It is not JSON and it is not base64. Any edit — removing a line break, swapping quotes, trimming spaces — corrupts the configuration and provisioning fails.
Step by step¶
- Open Google Tag Manager.
- Go to Administração → Contêiner do servidor.
- Click the container ID (top-right corner of the screen).
- Choose Provisionar servidor de tags manualmente (Provision tagging server manually).
- Copy the configuration string shown — use Ctrl+C / Cmd+C on the field itself, without editing anything.
- Go back to the AdPulse dashboard and paste it into Configuração do contêiner GTM when creating the container.
The same path is in the dashboard
When you open the text box in the creation modal, the dashboard shows this path right below the field. If it changes in GTM, the dashboard starts showing the current route.
Where to paste it in the AdPulse dashboard¶
Server GTM → Contêineres → Novo contêiner → Configuração do contêiner GTM. Paste the full string and click Criar contêiner.
The field accepts up to 64 KB. If your string is rejected as "too long", something extra was probably pasted — go back to GTM and copy only the contents of the configuration field.
Troubleshooting¶
| Situation | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "A configuração do contêiner GTM é obrigatória" | The field is empty. | Go back to GTM and copy the configuration string (steps above). |
| "A configuração é muito longa" | More than 64 KB were pasted. | Copy only the configuration field again, with no surrounding text. |
| Provisioning fails right after creating | The string was altered during the paste. | Copy again without editing and create a new container with the intact string. |
| You cannot find "Provisionar servidor de tags manualmente" | The selected container is not a server-type container. | Make sure you are in a server container and not a web container. |
| You are in the web container by mistake | Web containers do not generate a server configuration string. | Create a server-type container in GTM first. |
